Follow the journey from idea through build to interior design and eventual opening of Tina's Tea Shed in the Derbyshire Village of Bradley
Tina Jesson moved back to the UK after 14 years living and working in Indianapolis USA where she owned 4 tearooms over a 10 year period.
In 2022 she moved back to the village she grew up in and back to the same cottage she lived in most of her childhood.
The property was very run down and after a year of renovations, the cottage made a lovely home for her recently retired husband and Tina herself.
We join Tina as she started work on a concept she had for a small parcel of land she bought along with the cottage.
The Triangle or Pinfold in Bradley near Ashbourne, is a triangular piece of land in the center of the village that back in the day would have been common land, fenced off in order to keep any sheep which had escaped their field in the village. A fold for sheep and cattle or the village enclosure for stray animals.
The idea is to create a beautiful space from a piece of land that has been overgrown and discarded for years and been a bit of a dumping ground for pallets, glass and other sundries.
To create a kiosk where tea and scones can be served to passes by - walkers, cyclists and local folks.
But should it look like a bar, kiosk or something prettier. I was looking for something that was welcoming and looked lovely. Somewhere I could plant flowers and fruit trees and have parking and seating.
This was going to take time and be challenging - especially as we had so much rain in the winter...but in mid February, we finally go the digger in to start clearing the land and start to create the space.
