Tea Room Secrets: How one Canadian Tea Business started...

Canadian Food producer of Organic & Wild Crafted; Spice Blends & Teas:

My name is Jody Drinkwalter, I started my business during the pandemic after I lost my Hero, my Dad George Drinkwalter, to Covid! The depression and grief were unshakable. All I could do was craft, write, draw, or cook.

I tried crafting which I love, but realized I didn't want to have a career gluing things to other things all day! I have a family and they need to be fed so there I was making meals and my husband kept asking me to write down my recipes every meal that he loved ..little did i know that all the recipes in my phone would lead me to building my upcoming cookbook.. aiming to be published in early 2024. Perry's confidence and encouragement led me to why I am talking to you today! My Spices and Teas were birthed from those recipes.
We are a Canadian Food producer of Organic & Wild Crafted; Spice Blends & Teas: Smoked Hungarian Paprika add it to any goulash, BBQ rub or to add a bacony flavor profile. Herbs de Provence; is great in your Omelets or in French Onion Soups, The Taste Of Newfoundland; try it in your homemade salad dressings, fantastic with melted butter on your corn or in your gravies and stuffing and poultry. The next day, turn that gravy into a soup! Taco Party: Well, it has over 25 Organic Spices and Herbs , dips, nachos, and tacos. If I am having a bad day, the Taco Party is going in something in my house! Jamaican Jerk, chicken, and rice! Original Recipe, which I put in my husbands favorite soups, which are his favorite soups ever! and he lives my roasts! His other fav I made was my Seafood Seasoning. Put it in your Alfredo with Cooked shrimp pasta its stunning! ..we will be launching our new Thai blend soon! Delicious! My goal is to help families save money on the cost hikes making tasty meals so much easier as we have done the flavors for you. Saving you time and space in your cupboards . We always have fresh ideas to create love around your tables.

Our teas started for Menopause. Hot Flash Tea! It works! Soon, we had requests for other teas! We have Wild Crafted Chaga, English Breakfast, Chocolate Chai with Roobios, Organic White Tea, Premium Matcha, 100% Organic Peppermint & Dark Chocolate Tea ,Our Chocolate Chai is our Masterpiece! Our Premium Cacao beans are oven roasted and shucked by hand for a lot of our chocolate teas! Who doesn't love chocolate? My Sleep Tea was birthed from research to help women who suffer in the night and I have had a lot of feedback, and it works! Hibiscous Lemonade birthed from a request, Date Night Tea, and we even created a Sarsaparilla Root Beer Tea both great from relaxation and hormone balance, as well as being delicious.

Challenges for me are not buying every herb once i get an idea to help treat an illness. Pretty nerdy on the research front and just love finding new therapy teas to help people heal and improve their lives. It takes time to develop these products. Right now, I am working on two teas. One for gaĺ bl stones and one that's an all-over disease killer! Lucky the hubby is so kind and supports all that I do.

My research is what keeps me going coupled with my support from my family and customer feedback when they love something I have created. Ladies who come back and say that I have helped greatly reduce their hot flashes make me smile. When I can reduce someone's body pain with a tea or they just love the taste its thrilling.

Last year, our business did amazing, I booked January and February at a market, and i learned you need to find out outcomes from the years prior from other vendors and make sure it's worth your time. Find out about the reputation of those running the markets that they treat their vendors well and if they have duplicate vendors and if the organizer will separate you guys or do alternate weeks. Just because an organizer says something doesn't always mean they follow through. Know their character .Also, I learned January & February markets are generally slow; so next year, I will be offering my High Tea events and other fun events instead as now I am offering my food as well as my luxury teas.

When starting a business, make sure you love it. You are dreaming about it and wake up thinking about it. Research costs and learn if it is a viable business prior to starting. Run the numbers. Be able to hear feedback from customers about what they are looking for and know trends so you always have the newest, most delicious, and fresh product.
My greatest accomplishments: I have over 50 products now so that's major. Now I have a Retirement Centre who wants to cook with my spices and serves my teas. I have a film producer interested in my writing and I have three event planners taking on my company to feed everyone so that makes me excited. I am also working on a line of Canadian ceramic tea pots and mugs so that is thrilling for me.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me! Have no fear! Carpe Diem!
